The Story of the Abstract Prints
Mio Streitberger could easily be considered a master artist who dedicated his entire life to his art. His estate includes over a thousand oil paintings, prints, sketches, sculptures, and pottery. His style changed through his lifetime covering many different genres and “ism’s’.
This gallery features a very small number of abstract ink prints out of the collection.
Mio worked in the news print industry during the day, and retreated into his studio in the evenings after and before work. But, while at work while completing some mundane tasks, he was able to sneak in some creative time.
When the press jobs would change, they would have to change the plates on the presses, as well as clean the rollers and ink hoppers. They would line a table with newspapers and lay the machinery on the tables to clean them. My father would create small works of art on this newsprint as he cleaned the press equipment, folding them up and sticking them in his pocket to take home.
